Build a Biofouling Management Plan and Record Book for a specific vessel, structured to IMO MEPC.207(62) and Australian biosecurity requirements, and download it as a print-ready PDF.

Why it matters

Why you need a biofouling management plan

A Biofouling Management Plan (BFMP) sets out how a specific vessel will manage growth on its submerged surfaces: what gets inspected, when, how it gets cleaned, and what gets recorded. Biofouling is one of the main ways invasive species move between ports, which is why regulators now ask to see the plan.

The IMO framework is Resolution MEPC.207(62), which many flag states recommend or require. Australia and New Zealand go further: under their Biosecurity Acts, a compliant BFMP is mandatory for vessels entering their waters.

The IMO guidelines are voluntary internationally and line up with ISO 21070:2017. Having a plan that actually reflects how the vessel operates also cuts fuel burn and reduces the chance of being held up at a port that inspects hulls.

The operating profile is the basis for AFS selection and operational practices. Complete all fields for compliance with IMO guidance.

Hull & Niche Areas Description

Upload general arrangement, docking plan, and internal seawater systems schematics.

Anti-fouling Coatings (AFC)

Provide details of all anti-fouling coatings applied to the vessel. Add multiple coatings if different types are used on different areas.
